Western Australia completed a stunning clean sweep of South Australia to jump to the lead after two rounds of the Australian Interstate Teams matches being held at Queensland’s McLeod Golf Club.

Lead by National Squad members Jessica Speechley and Whitney Hillier, the West Australians were able to back up after the 3 matches to 0 morning foursomes win with a brilliant 5 matches to 0 victory in the afternoon singles matchplay event.

Victoria also consolidated yesterday’s strong performance with a resounding 6 matches to 2 defeat of defending champions New South Wales, while Queensland also remains unbeaten, winning 6 ½ matches to 1 ½ over Tasmania today.

Western Australia is just half a point clear of Victoria at the top of the table on 12 ½ matches won while Queensland is still in the race sitting on 11 ½ matches won.

Tomorrow should make for an interesting battle between the second placed Victorians and the third placed Queenslanders, while Western Australia is expected to jump further ahead of their rivals when they take on sixth-placed Tasmania.

It’s also a chance for either New South Wales or South Australia to finally register a win tomorrow in the final match of the day.
