Gore wins, Lee 4th in Miami

Jason Gore, a six time winner on the Nationwide Tour and a former PGA Tour title winner, today turned around a flagging career when he won the Miccosukee Open in Miami by four shots.

Without status on the PGA Tour in 2011 and with only US$33,000 to show for 18 starts on the Nationwide Tour in 2010, things we becoming desperate for the 36 year old.

This week however he was in contention from his opening round of 65 and although he made a shaky start to his final round with bogeys at his opening two holes he was soon back on track and eventually ran out a comfortable winner.

The win will move Gore up around 90 places on the money list to 35th and within striking distance – with just two events remaining on the 2010 schedule – of a place inside the top 25 at season’s end. Importantly the win will ensure he plays the Tour Championship in two week’s time providing one further opportunity to gain one of the 25 2011 PGA Tour cards on offer at season’s end.

Kevin Kisner and Scott Gutschewski finished in a share of second while John Kimbell, David Hearn, Keegan Bradley and Won Joon Lee all shared fourth.

Lee finished runner-up in this event twelve months ago and very importantly this week’s finish will earn him a place in the Tour Championship in two weeks time. He will move inside the top 50 on the money list and open the door for a PGA Tour card in 2011 if he can finish off the season well.

Scott Gardiner consolidate his position on the money list with a 13th place finish but he will still need two solid weeks at next week’s Jacksonville Open and the Tour Championship if he is to secure one of the sought after cards to the PGA Tour.
