33 year old Robert Garrigus has broken through for his first PGA Tour victory with a three shot win at the Children’s Miracle Worker Classic.

Garrigus who earlier in the season had triple bogeyed the final hole of the St Jude Classic to lose that tournament in a playoff to Lee Westwood, put together a final round of 64 to catch and pass overnight leader Roland Thatcher.

Thatcher still led by two with seven holes to play but dropped shots at the 12th, 16th and 17th allowed Garrigus the opportunity to pounce and he did with a birdie at the 17th from 15 feet to take the lead.

Thatcher might be disappointed that he lost the chance to win the tournament but his share of second position sees him finish in 122nd position on the money list ensuring his card for 2011.

Another to have a great day despite not winning was Troy Merritt who although finishing only 30th in the tournament finished his season in 125th on the money list and after the tournament was over went out and secured the US$1 million first prize in the Kodak Challenge.

On the other side of the money list coin was Johnson Wagner who finished in a share of third with Rickie Fowler and Spencer Levin.

In recording a double bogey at the 16th hole Wagner cost himself a chance of not only winning the tournament but his right to play the PGA Tour with full status next season. Johnson wound up in 126th position on the money list with only the top 125 earning the right to play the PGA Tour with full status in 2011.

John Senden finished as the best of the Australians in a share of 12th position moving him to a season ending 69th on the money list which will allow him the added advantage of starts in several limited field events next season.

Cameron Percy held his ground inside the top 150 ensuring that he will have at least limited status on the PGA Tour in 2011 and direct access to the final stage of Tour School. Percy finished 27th this week.

David Lutterus was 45th, Mathew Goggin 54th and Aron Price and Aaron Baddeley 65th.

The money list was finalised today and players from this week’s event who are now required to attend Stage two of the Qualifying School are Mathew Goggin, James Nitties, Rod Pampling and David Lutterus.

Aron Price and Cameron Percy are exempt into the Final Stage in early December.
