Scott continues love affair with Sentosa

Adam Scott has won his third Singapore Open title in the last six years, his final round of 68 which was completed this morning at the Sentosa Golf Club good enough for a three shot victory over Anders Hansen with Rikard Karlberg and Graeme McDowell tying for third one shot further back.
Weather delays had forced the event be carried over until Monday morning, Scott returning to recommence his round at the 9th. The 30 year old was never seriously challenged over the final stages of the event although he found the going tough.
“It feels great,” said Scott, “It’s a relief to finally get finished – it’s been a bit of a long week. I’m very happy to be winning here again. It was a bit of a grind out there this morning – it is not an easy back nine to come out and play and I didn’t make it look easy either.”
“I haven’t been putting my best lately and the demons started creeping in on the back nine, but it’s a course I absolutely love and I’ve played so many great shots here.”
“I think this one is a really good win,” added the winner when asked to compare his win here to the Texas open earlier in the season. “Texas was great – I hadn’t won in America for a couple of years but this is always a great event and this was an incredible field.”
Given that strength in the field, this win should move Scott a long way in the world rankings from his current 40th position when the revised rankings are posted tonight. He could potentially surpass Robert Allenby as Australia’s current leading ranked player.
New South Welshman, Darren Beck, returned to the Sentosa this morning with the prospect of his greatest payday in the game. He was in a share of 6th position overnight but his two hours on the golf course would prove costly. He dropped four shots and finished in a share of 21st. It was nonetheless a good week but one that could have been so much better.
Beck did however improve eight places to 22nd on the 2010 Asian Tour money list.
Scott Hend was the next best Australian in 42nd position.
The Asian and European Tours now head north to Hong Kong for this week’s Hong Kong Open.
