It just keeps getting better for Ikeda

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2010 Dunlop Phoenix Tournament | Wrap | 21 Nov 2010

Yuta Ikeda today continued his amazing rise on the Japan Golf Tour by winning one of that tour’s most significant events, the Dunlop Phoenix in Miyazaki in Kyushsu.
For Ikeda it was his fourth win of the 2010 season and although it has not yet earned the lead on the Japan Golf Tour’s money list, he has moved into third position behind Kyung tae Kim and Ryo Ishikawa.
Kim chased the winner every step of the way in today’s final round. Starting the final round five shots behind Ikeda, the 24 year old Korean closed within one shot of the eventual winner before a double bogey at the par three 17th cost him his chance. He managed to birdie the last to finish within two shots of the winner however and maintains his lead on the Japan Golf Tour money list for 2010.
Masaya Tomida finished alone in third position while the two players involved in a playoff for the title last year Edoardo Molinari and Robert Karlsson finished in a share of 4th.
The leading Australasian was David Smail who finished 28th, Robert Allenby was 32nd, Steve Conran was 38thand Paul Sheehan 44th.
The Japan Golf Tour now plays the final full field event of the season the Casio World Open.
