To coincide with today being 100 days until the start of its Centenary Championship, the PGA of Australia announced that the 2005 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship will increase its prizemoney by 20% to $1,200,000.

“We are thrilled to be doing this. The Australian and international players have supported us so strongly in recent years as we built this event up and its nice to be in a position to repay some of that loyalty by boosting prizemoney,” said PGA Chief Executive Officer Max Garske.

“Its also a measure of how we are growing this event with the support of an ever increasing group of supporters and sponsors – from Cadbury Schweppes and Queensland Events Corporation, to Hyatt Regency Coolum and Maroochy Shire Council.”

The 2005 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship is the Centenary of this historic event and an exciting array of past champions and Australian and international players are being assembled to contest the Kirkwood Cup. Further details on players will be made over the next few weeks.

“Our Business Plan for the Championship is to position it within the Asia Pacific and continue to grow its support base of sponsors, players and spectators. Our event week programs include the PGA Business Club, our Leading Ladies Luncheon hosted by Sunrise’s Melissa Doyle, our Cadbury Schweppes Junior Golf Shootout and this year’s Centenary Champions Dinner, we are confident of growing this event further,” Garske added.

The Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship will be played at Hyatt Regency Coolum from 1-4 December 2005.
