Five Australians have made it through Sectional Qualifying across the USA today and have bolstered the numbers of Australians in the field for Congressional Country Club in Bethesda in Maryland next week to eleven.

Those who were successful at their respective venues today will join Jason Day, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, Robert Allenby, Aaron Baddeley and Scott Barr who had already qualified via other means, Barr being successful in Sectional Qualifying in Japan.

In Columbus in Ohio, Nick O’Hern, John Senden, Marc Leishman and Scott Hend each earned one of the 16 places available from that venue. Hend did so by surviving a playoff for one of the final spots.

In Dallas, Greg Chalmers survived a playoff between three players for the final two spots and gets to play in just his second US Open.

New Zealander Michael Campbell also gets to play the event courtesy of his ’former champion’ status
