Tseng retains lead at LPGA Championship

Despite a mid round mishap on day two of the Wegmans LPGA Championship, world number one Yani Tseng has recovered to finish the opening 36 holes with a one shot lead over Pat Hurst with a further shot back to Morgan Pressel, Minea Blomqvist and Hee Young Park.

Tseng appeared to be running away with the event at the Locust Hill Country Club in Rochester in New York when she quickly took up where she left off on day one. She birdied three of her first six holes today and at 9 under par she was in command. Then at the par four 18th, her 9th of the round, Tseng double bogeyed and came back to the field.

Tseng lost her lead but then bounced back with a birdie at the 10th and then added a final birdie of the day at the last to grab the outright lead heading into the weekend. Tseng is seeking her second victory in this event having won in 2008. If she was to go on with it she will also have won her fourth major championship.

Katherine Hull leads the Australians after her second round of 72 left her in 19th position and six shots behind Tseng. Karrie Webb is next in 29th position while Sarah Kemp and Sarah-Jane Smith will both make the cut in 50th position.
