Saiki leads Evian Masters

Japan’s Miki Saiki is the halfway leader at the Evian Masters in Evian les Baines in France, the Japanese star edging one shot clear of a large group courtesy of a blistering start to her second round.
Saiki birdied six of her first eleven holes on day two and although the birdie train dried up from that point on she had enough in reserve to lead over Angela Stanford, Stacy Lewis, former winner Ai Miyazato, Shin Ae Ahn and joint first round leader Maria Hjorth.
The 26 year old Saiki is in the middle of a great season on the Japan Ladies Tour having won once but finished runner-up on three other occasions. She is in second position on the money list this season so her performance here although perhaps not predicted was no real surprise.
The leading Australian is Karrie Webb but at 1 under she is in 45th position and eight shots from Saiki’s lead. Lindsey Wright was the only other Australian to make the cut and is in 54th position.
