American Steve Friesen leads the Nationwide Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Classic in Springfield in Missouri adding a second round of to lead by one over fellow American Josh Broadaway and by two over a group of five players which includes Australian Gavin Coles.

The 34 year old Friesen is playing in his second Nationwide Tour event of the season after a good tournament last week in Nebraska where a second round of 64 had him contending for the title there also. He eventually finished 49th.

Friesen was a multiple winner of mini tour events earlier in his career but has yet to win at this level although he has only played one full Nationwide Tour season previously.

Coles has had a horror run on the Nationwide Tour this season making only two of fourteen cuts to date but he put together some good golf last week in Nebraska and it appears he has found something with his game. His birdie, eagle finish today has him right on the leader’s heels.

South Australian David Lutterus is the next best of the Australians at 11 under par while Scott Gardiner let slip a good opportunity to be much closer to the 36 hole lead when he bogeyed two holes late in his round to be at 9 under and five behind Friesen.

Peter Lonard continued his much improved play of late to be at 7 under.
