Garrido leads in Scotland

Spain’s Ignacio Garrido has a narrow one shot lead over five players at the completion of 36 holes of the Johnnie Walker Championship at the PGA Centenary Course at the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire in Scotland.

The 39 year old whose last win on the European Tour came with a surprise victory at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in 2003 and who is currently ranked 197 in the world, is well placed to improve his status in the game dramatically this week.

Garrido has played well in recent weeks including his 5th place in Ireland and a 20th place finish last week at the Czech Open.

In a share of second position are Thomas Bjorn, Kenneth Ferrie, Peter Lawrie, Mark Foster and talented Italian Lorenzo Gagli.

Andrew Dodt was the only Australian to make the cut but only just, the Queenslander finishing right on the cut number of even par.
