Japan Tour in Nagoya

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2011 Coca-Cola Tokai Classic | Preview | 28 Sep 2011

The Japan Tour is in Nagoya this week for the Coca Cola Tokai Classic at the Miyoshi Country Club where it has been played as a Japan Golf Tour event since 1973.

Michio Matsumura won the event in 2010 in a playoff and in 2009 Ryo Ishikawa was victorious and both are in this week’s field.

So too is last week’s winner of the Asia Pacific Panasonic Open and the current leader of both the Asian and Japan Golf Tour money lists, Tetsuji Hiratsuka

Australia’s most recent winner on the Japan Golf Tour, Kurt Barnes, is back after taking last week off.

Barnes was sitting out an enforced banning from last week’s event after withdrawing from that tournament in 2010 but the new look Barnes is back full of confidence and a very different golfer than was the case twelve months ago.

Other Australasians in the field are Chris Campbell, David Smail, Steve Conran, Paul Sheehan and Neven Basic.
