Three way tie in Orlando, Ohern 4th

Justin Leonard, Henrik Stenson and Bio Kim share the lead at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic at the Palms and Magnolia courses at Lake Buena Vista in Florida, the trio just two clear of Australia’s Nick O’Hern.

Leonard (144th), Tour rookie Kim (168th) and Stenson 180th all need something special in this season ending event if they are to advance their cause on the money list although for Stenson his status on the PGA Tour is already protected courtesy of his win at the 2009 Players Championship.

O’Hern last week eliminated any concerns re money list issues when 6th at the McGladreys Classic and this week, at a venue where he has played well previously, has continued on with it. It has been a successful year for O’Hern to date, playing himself out of a Medical Exemption and re-establishing himself on the PGA Tour for 2012.

Nathan Green is the next best of the Australians in 14th position improving his money list position to 163rd although he will need to finish inside the top eight if he is to move inside the top 150 and have at least some status next year or finish first or second if he is to jump into the top 125.

Greg Chalmers and Steve Bowditch are 20th, while John Senden, Jarrod Lyle and Michael Sim are all in 43rd position with only Chalmers and Senden without status concerns.

Bowditch does have the guarantee however of at least 15 – 20 PGA Tour starts in 2012 irrespective of what happens over the weekend or at Tour School if gets down to that.

The main point of discussion this week is on the money list title with Webb Simpson and Luke Donald fighting it out. Both are tied in 14th position at the halfway mark and five shots from the lead.

Donald needs to win or finish runner-up this week and if that was the case then Simpson to finish outside of 2nd or 8th if the Englishman is to regain the money list lead Simpson claimed last week.
