It's as simple as ABC in Japan

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2011 mynavi ABC Championship | Preview | 26 Oct 2011

The Japan Tour plays the Mynavi ABC Championship at the ABC Golf Club in Hyogo Prefecture this week, the event one of the more lucrative on the Japan Golf Tour throughout its long history although interestingly the first prize this week (¥30,000,000) is less than it was twenty one years ago.

As could be expected for one of the flagship events on the Japan Golf Tour, the field for this week’s event is as strong as they come on the Japan Golf Tour with all but one of the leading ten players on the Japan Golf Tour’s 2011 money list in the field.

The exception is Tetsuji Hiratsuka but, he aside, the event is stacked with Japan Tour stars including Presidents Cup players Ryo Ishikawa and Kyung-tae Kim (the defending champion) and leading money winner Sang-moon Bae.

Kim and Ishikawa finished first and second respectively in the event last year.

Australasians in this restricted field (94 players) event are Australia’s leading money winner in 2011 Brendan Jones, Paul Sheehan, David Smail and Chris Campbell.
