Duval on track for first win of the season
BY iseekgolf.com | US PGA Tour | 2002 Invensys Classic at Las Vegas | Round Four | 13 Oct 2002
David Duval fired a bogey-free -9 (63) at the TPC at Summerlin in Nevada to take a one stroke lead into the fifth and final round of the $5 million Invensys Classic. Duval, who showed glimpses of his former self at last week’s Michelob Championship, leads by a stroke at -24 from overnight leader, Jim Furyk, who could only manage a 69 today.
Jeff Sluman lies in equal second where he began this morning after carding a -4 (68). Stuart Appleby and Jonathon Byrd share fourth place at -22 with Appleby falling back one spot from yesterday.
While Stuart Appleby occupies the top spot on the ANZ leaderboard, Kiwi Phil Tataurangi is next best at -19 and in equal 12th. Recent NEC Invitational champion, Craig Parry, remains seven strokes from the lead at -17 alongside Steve Allen. Robert Allenby sits at the bottom of the list of players to make the cut, at -12 (T57).
There are more than twenty players within six shots of Duval and with scores as low as 62 this week, anyone could still take the title from Duval.
