Top performing Australians Craig Parry, Nick O’Hern and Rod Pampling have joined the list of players confirmed for the 2005 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship to be played 1-4 December at the Hyatt Regency Coolum, Queensland.
“Craig Parry is a great champion and ambassador for Schweppes”, according to Mark Smith, Managing Director of Cadbury Schweppes Australia.
“We are delighted that he will be at the centenary event of the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship – especially after his nail-biting win at the Heineken Classic earlier in the year.
“It’s great to see Nick and Rod return home to support this tournament after achieving such outstanding results this year,” he added.
Nick O’Hern has had a stellar year and as well as sitting at 32 on the Official World Golf Rankings, he made his President’s Cup debut last month. The West Australian left-hander has had three top ten finishes on both the US PGA Tour and on the European Tour which included his runner-up placing in the joint sanctioned Heineken Classic earlier in the year.
Former Australian PGA Champion Craig Parry is also coming off a solid year highlighted by his thrilling Heineken win. He will no doubt be looking to add another PGA title to his list of credits. Parry still holds the scoring record for this historic championship of 19-under par.
Rod Pampling has consolidated his position on the US PGA TOUR with six top ten finishes in 23 starts punctuated by tied-fifth at the US Masters. Pampling, hailing from the Sunshine Coast region, was runner-up in the 2003 PGA Championship and finished a credible tied-ninth in last year’s event.
