Lu Wei Chih wins on Asian Tour

Lu Wei Chih has won the Mercurie Masters in Taiwan for the second occasion with a three shot win over Thailand’s Thaworn Wirachant at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club in Taipei.

The 32 year old Lu, who is himself from Taipei, led throughout the 72 hole event his final round of 74 perhaps flattering the chasers who got a little closer to him over the closing stages.

Lu won this event in 2005 when breaking through on the Asian Tour and has gone on to win four events in total in that time. He has been a solid if unspectacular performer but this victory takes him to his highest position of 5th on the Asian Tour money list.

Darren Beck and Kieran Pratt were the best of the Australians in the field when they finished in a share of 21st.
