Chalmers challenges for Triple Crown
Australasian PGA Tour | 2011 Australian Masters | Preview | 30 Nov 2011
IMG, event owner and promoter of the 2011 JBWere Masters, today confirmed the participation of Greg Chalmers at Victoria Golf Club from 15-18 December.
On the back of his terrific wins at the Emirates Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship, Chalmers will vie to become the second player in the history of Australian golf to win the Triple Crown and match the achievement of Robert Allenby in 2005.
David Rollo, Vice President-Director of Golf IMG Australia commented: “We are delighted to have Greg in our field and congratulate him on his outstanding success this summer. We wish him all the very best at Victoria Golf Club in his bid to win the gold jacket and the Triple Crown.”
Chalmers will have to overcome the challenge of a terrific field headlined by World #1 Luke Donald (England), Ian Poulter (England) and Matteo Manassero (Italy) with the Australian challenge led by Geoff Ogilvy, John Senden, Robert Allenby and defending champion Stuart Appleby.
Also in the field are past Masters champions Michael Campbell, Rod Pampling, Peter Senior, Brad Hughes, Craig Parry, Peter Lonard and Richard Green.
Green will be joined in the field by Brendan Jones. These two players teamed up to take Australia to an impressive second place finish at last week’s WGC-Mission Hills World Cup.
Another notable addition to the field is three-time PGA TOUR champion Jeff Maggert from the United States.
