The Final Stage of Qualifying for the 2012 PGA Tour has reached the half way stage of its 108 hole marathon and there have been mixed fortunes for the Australasians involved.
New South Wales golfer, Matt Jones, lies in second position at 11 under and two behind the 54 hole leader Will Claxton. Jones is attempting to regain the playing privileges he has enjoyed for the past five years and is very much on track to secure one of the twenty five cards up for grabs this week.
Jarrod Lyle bounced back from his second round of 72 yesterday to record a four under 68 and is in 9th position.
Next best is Steve Bowditch, who recovered from a horror start today but could still only manage a round of 74 to be in 56th position and James Nitties, who kept his hopes alive with a round of 69. Bowditch started with a bogey then double bogey but is still well enough placed.
Steve Allan is in 73rd position and Craig Hocknull and Nathan Green (90th) round out the Australasians currently inside the top 100, Green still in the mix with a round of 67 today.
