Australians Wade Ormsby and Scott Hend share the lead with American Ben Fox after the opening round of the Asian Tour’s Zaykabar Myanmar Open presented by Air Bagan at the Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club.
The trio’s rounds of 64 gives them a narrow one shot lead heading into round two.
Ormsby, who only recently gained his playing rights for the Asian Tour when 12th at the Tour School in January, played the European and Nationwide Tours in previous years but will play a full schedule of events or as many as his status will allow in 2012.
Scott Hend has been a regular on the Asian Tour since 2007 winning once during that time and regularly finishing high up on the money list. His two best seasons came in 2008 and 2009 when he finished 4th. Hend has also played in Europe on occasions and has partial status there.
24 year old Californian Fox is a former winner of the South West Amateur during his amateur days and is into his third season in Asia having successfully retained his status in both his opening two years.
Fifteen Australians are in the event the next best of them being West Australian Rick Kulacz who shares 9th position after a round of 67.
