National Australian Teams named

NATIONAL SQUAD AND TEAM SELECTIONS UPDATE

Golf Australia has announced the team selections for the upcoming Trans Tasman Cup at Peninsula Country Golf Club from 7-9 March and the Queen Sirikit Cup from 23-27 April at Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore.

TRANS TASMAN CUP

MEN’S TEAM
Cameron Smith (Qld) – Medallist (Australian Amateur)
Nathan Holman (Vic) – Master of the Amateurs Champion
Jake Higginbottom (NSW) – National Squad member
Ryan McCarthy (Tas) – National Squad member

WOMEN’S TEAM
Grace Lennon (Vic) – NSW Amateur Champion
Ashlee Dewhurst (Tas) – 2011 Australian Amateur Champion
Adriana Brent (NSW) – 2010 Dunes Medallist and 3rd at the 2012 Australian Amateur Stroke Play qualifying
Breanna Elliott (Vic) – Medallist (Australian Amateur), No.1 on the Australian Women’s Amateur Rankings.

BOYS’ TEAM
Anthony Murdaca (SA) – 2010 Australian Boys’ Amateur champion
Oliver Goss (WA) – National Junior Squad member
Ruben Sondjaja (NSW) – Semi finalist – Australian Amateur
Lucas Herbert (Vic) – Victorian Junior Champion

GIRLS’ TEAM
Jaimee Dougan (Qld) – National Junior Squad
Su Hyun Oh (Vic) – Aaron Baddeley World Junior champion.
Lauren Mason (Qld) – Queensland Junior Champion
Hannah Green (WA) – WA Junior Champion

The coaches are Peter Knight and Martin Joyce. The managers are Brad James and Matt Cutler.

QUEEN SIRIKIT CUP

Minjee Lee (WA), Su Hyun Oh (Vic) and Breanna Elliott (Vic) will represent Australia at the upcoming Queen Sirikit Cup.

Lee is the current Tasmanian Stroke Play and WA Amateur champion and is currently recovering from an injury. Su Hyun Oh, a fellow National Squad member is the Aaron Baddeley World Junior Champion.

Elliott is the number one on the national women’s amateur rankings and the runner up at this year’s Australian Amateur.

Shani Waugh will be the team coach and Matt Cutler will be the team manager.

NATIONAL SQUAD

Bonnie Doon Golf Club member Ricky Kato has been added to the National Junior Squad while Kingston Heath member Breanna Elliott joins the National Squad after finishing second at the Australian Amateur and winning medallist honours in the Stroke Play qualifying.

Kato joins the squad after reaching key benchmarks including holding number one place on the boys’ national rankings and making the quarter finals of the recent Australian Amateur.
