BY PGA of Australia | 15 Feb 2012
The field is set for next week’s Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship which will tee off at City Golf Club, Toowoomba on Thursday 23rd February.
A field of 132 players will contest the PGA Tour of Australasia sanctioned tournament which carries a $115,000 prize fund and official World Golf Rankings points.
2007 Australian Open Champion Craig Parry will headline the field and is sure to pull strong crowds to the Darling Downs for the last event in Australia before the PGA Tour of Australasia heads to New Zeland in March.
Joining him in the field is three time European Tour winner Peter O’Malley, former Australian PGA Championship and Heineken Classic winner Jarrod Moseley and 2011 OneAsia Order of Merit winner Andre Stolz.
A former Queensland PGA Champion in 2002, Stolz is not the only Professional with his name already on the tournament trophy in next week’s field.
Also lining up are Terry Price (1988 Champion,) Kurt Barnes (2004 Champion,) and of course last year’s defending champion New Zealander Gareth Paddison.
“This year’s field is arguably the best we’ve seen here at City Golf Club in the last three stagings of the event and we’re looking forward to an action packed week,” said Broc Greenhalgh, Executive Officer of the Queensland PGA.
“There are a number of Australian and international tournament winners in the field and the week will be a great sporting spectacle for the region.”
With festivities set to get underway from Monday, the tournament will be preceded by a number of community engagement activities with three pro-ams, school visits and junior clinics planned for the lead up.
Once the tournament gets underway there will still be plenty happening around the course, the most exciting of which is Sunday’s inaugural ‘Market Day’ which will showcase new golf innovations and feature exclusive specials and giveaways.
As for the on course action, pre-qualifying for the Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship will be staged at Toowoomba Golf Course – Middle Ridge – on Monday 20th February with 10 positions up for grabs.
The full field will then tee off early Thursday morning for the first of four rounds.
