Ko back on top at Riversdale Cup

BY Bruce Young | Australian Ladies Amateur Tour | 2012 Ladies Riversdale Cup | Round One | 22 Feb 2012

New Zealander Lydia Ko is back in familiar territory – leading a tournament. The 14 year old produced an opening round of three under par 70 to lead the Riversdale Cup at the Riversdale Golf Club in Melbourne by two shots over fellow New Zealander Emily Perry and Sydney’s Lauren Hibbert.

Ko has played a huge amount of tournament golf in the last five or six weeks, winning the Australian Amateur Championship and the NSW Open amongst several other good tournaments in professional tournaments.

If anything Ko was a little disappointing at last week’s New Zealand Open in Christchurch although it is hard to be disappointed with anything this very special talent does.

Recent Lake Macquarie Amateur Champion, Whitney Hillier from WA, NSW’s Adriana Brent and Victorian Grace Lennon are one shot further back in a share of 4th position.

The tournament is played over 72 holes.
