The quarter finalists have been decided at the Accenture Match Play Championship with two of the leading three seeds through to the fourth round.

Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood today defeated Miguel Angel Jimenez and Nick Watney respectively while the third of the three remaining leading seeds, Martin Kaymer, was comfortably beaten by Matt Kuchar who is shaping as a genuine threat to win the title.

The only remaining Australian in the field, John Senden, fought back after going behind early in his match against the talented PGA Tour rookie Sang Moon Bae but it was not enough to take the match. Senden lost one down to the Korean.

Bae will now play McIlory in tomorrow’s quarter final, Westwood will play Scot Martin Laird, Kuchar will take on Hunter Mahan and Peter Hanson will meet Mark Wilson.

Saturday is reserved for the quarter finals with the semis to be played on Sunday morning and the final and consolation final played on Sunday afternoon.

In recent times the Final has been reduced from 36 to 18 holes.
