LPGA returns in Hawaii

The LPGA Tour plays its first event since the Kraft Nabisco was completed on April 1st when the LPGA Lotte Championship is played at the Ko Olina Golf Club in Honolulu in Hawaii.
This week’s event is being played over 72 holes but begins on Wednesday and finishes on Saturday.
The venue has been used in previous years for an LPGA Tour event although this will be the first since 2008 and this is the inaugural staging of this particular event.
As could be expected with a schedule that has been spasmodic to date in 2012, the LPGA’s stars are lining up to play with all five of the leading world ranked players in the field and nine of the top ten.
Yani Tseng will no doubt be the favourite give her domination of the female game in the past two years and that she has held the number one position in the female game since winning the ANZ RACV Ladies Masters in 2011, 62 weeks ago.
There is no disclosed recent form on this layout but taking the players on their current form then Tseng could well win her 4th title of the season.
It would be of little surprise if Amy Yang finally broke through for her first LPGA Tour win this week. She has developed some great consistency of late and did win in Korea last year. She finished 4th at the recent Kraft Nabisco and at some point her breakthrough win will come.
Seven times in her last twelve starts, Na Yeon Choi has been inside the top five in events worldwide and it would be of no surprise if she was to be there again and perhaps win her first event of 2012.
Australians in the field are Karrie Webb, Lindsey Wright, Katherine Hull, Sarah Jane Smith, Sarah Kemp and Wendy Doolan.
