Brendan Jones chases 4th Tsuruya title

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2012 Tsuruya Open | Preview | 18 Apr 2012

In form golfer, Brendan Jones, will chase his 4th Tsuruya Open title when he tees it up at the Yamanohara Golf Club in Hyogo Prefecture near Osaka in Japan this Thursday.

Fresh from his victory at last week’s Token Homemate Cup in Nagoya, Jones, a winner of this event in 2004, 2006 and 2007, is in the right sort of form to add yet another Japan Tour title to his name.

Jones has also produced several other good finishes in the event and in the frame of mind he is in right now it is not hard to see another great week for him.

The event is headed in terms of world ranking by Presidents Cup team member, Kim Kyung Tae, who is currently ranked number 50 in the world. Kim has been out of form against stronger fields this season but is a good enough player to bounce back quickly.

Ryo Ishikawa follows Kim in terms of their world ranking but with a runner-up finish at the PGA Tour’s event in Mexico two months ago and a top ten last week in Nagoya he will likely be a factor this week.

Other Australasians in the field this week are Kurt Barnes, Brad Kennedy, David Smail, Neven Basic, Richard Lee, Paul Sheehan, David Smail and Steve Conran.
