Rhein Gibson's round of 55

BY Bruce Young | 17 May 2012

26 year old Rhein Gibson, from Lismore in NSW, has broken all sorts of records with an almost unbelievable round of 16 under par 55 at the River Oaks Golf Club at Christian University in Oklahoma.

The round, recorded on May 12th and reported on www.golfpigeon.com is believed to be the lowest round ever recorded on an 18 hole golf course.

Gibson’s junior coach in Australia, Peter Jaeger, said today Gibson is a great, down to earth character who has the capacity to go low.

Go low he did and despite the fact it was a social round of golf with friends his opening nine of 26 set him up for something quite special.

He finished with back nine of 29, recording 12 birdies and two eagles for his round of 16 under par.

Gibson is establishing himself in professional golf by playing mini tour events including a victory at the Oklahoma Open in 2010 but clearly he is as yet an untapped talent.
