Wiesberger continues great season

Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger has won not only his second European Tour event but has produced that victory in front of his home fans when winning the Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity in Atzenbrugg in Austria.

While not named as such, the event is essentially the Austrian Open and for Wiesberger, winning his national open has provided one of the best days of his life.

A final round of 65 has given him a three shot victory over Thomas Levet and Shane Lowry.

The 27 year old has now won twice in 2012 after winning the Ballantines event in Korea earleir in the season and he now sits in 19th position on the Race to Dubai money list.

Wiesberger’s closing nine holes of 30 saw him pass the long time leader of the event, Thorbjorn Olesen and draw clear as Olesen began to struggle over this closing few holes.

Olesen eventually finished in 5th position.

Lowry fought back after a slow start to his final round to play his last 13 holes in 8 under par t join Levet in second position.

Brett Rumford finished as the leading Australian in 30th position while Wade Ormsby was 33rd and David McKenzie who started the event well, 40th.
