Nitties poised at Midwest Classic

Defending champion James Nitties sits just two behind the leader, Bryan DeCorso of Canada, at the completion of 36 holes at the Midwest Classic in Overland park in Kansas.

Nitties who gave an indication when 10th last week that his game is on the improve after a season which has been difficult for him both on and off the golf course, produced a second round of 66 today and although be disappointingly bogeyed the last he is well positioned to successful defend the only Web.Com (Nationwide) Tour title he has won.

DeCorso, who is currently 131st on the money list, recorded the best round of the day, a 63, to lead as he too chases his second victory on the Web.com Tour.

Steve Alker and Scott Gardiner are tied for 31st at 4 under while Tim Wilkinson, Nick Flanagan and Peter Lonard finished on the cutline at 2 under and in a share of 49th.

The comeback of the day came from Lonard who bounced back from an opening round of 75 to record a round of 65 in the afternoon conditions and sneak inside the field for the weekend.

Australia’s leading player on the money list this season Cameron Percy (10th) missed the cut.
