Garcia has narrow lead at Wyndham
BY Bruce Young | US PGA Tour | 2012 Wyndham Championship | Round Four | 20 Aug 2012
A birdie at the 3rd hole of his final round and one hole before play was called due to inclement weather, has left Sergio Garcia one shot ahead of Tim Clark, Bud Cauley and Jason Dufner at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro but it will not be until tomorrow until the fate of all is decided.
Play will recommence at 9.00am to complete the event and not only decide the winner but the final placings on the FedEx Cup list heading into the opening event of the Playoffs next week.
The break in play appeared initially that it would be only a temporary one but the rain persisted and at 5.30pm play was called for the day.
Sixteen players are within four shots of the lead and with none of them having played an more than 13 holes then there are many other players aside from the leading four who could still feature in tomorrow’s shootout.
Rod Pampling completed his final round of 68 before play was suspended and by finishing inside what appears will be the top 30 he is assured of a place in the field at next week’s Barclays Championship at Bethpage Black in New York.
Nick O’Hern will finish around 46th and Stuart Appleby 70th.
The Australians who have made the FedEx Cup playoffs therefore are (FedEx Cup placings shown) Marc Leishman 27th, Adam Scott 32nd, John Senden 37th, Aaron Baddeley 63rd, Geoff Ogilvy 67th, Greg Chalmers 78th, Robert Allenby 111th, Jason Day 112th, and Rod Pampling 116th.
