Toshin Golf Tournament reaches halfway

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2012 Toshin Golf Tournament | Round Two | 08 Sep 2012

Masamichi Uehira leads the Toshin Golf Tournament through 36 holes at the Ryosen Golf Club in Mie prefecture in Japan, the four time Japan Challenge Tour winner still seeking his first victory on the Japan Golf Tour.

Uehira leads by one over Koreans Kyung Tae Kim, Hyun Woo Ryu Japan’s Yuta Ikeda and China’s Ashun Wu.

Kim Kyung Tae won last week’s Fujisankei Classic and appears as if he may again be the man to beat over the closing 36 holes.

Richard Tate leads the Australians in 27th position at 8 under and seven behind the leader, James McLean is 34th, Neven Basic 41st and New Zealander Richard Lee 53rd.

Victorian, McLean, is a former University of Minnesota player and is in his first season on the Japan Golf Tour. His status is such that he gets only limited starts on the main tour but this is the third cut he has made in the three starts he has had to date in his rookie season.
