Jiyai Shin finding her best form

BY Bruce Young | LPGA Tour | 2012 Kingsmill Championship | Round Two | 08 Sep 2012

Jiyai Shin is rediscovering the form that saw her as the world number one two years ago and at this week’s Kingsmill Championship at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg in Virginia she has provided further proof of just that.

Shin has not won an event anywhere since November of 2010 but she has been putting together numerous top ten finishes in recent times. Today the 24 year old added a second round of 68 to go with her stunning opening round of 62 to lead the event by one over American Danielle Kang with a further shot back to Paula Creamer and Dewi-Claire Schreefel of the Netherlands.

Shin’s only bogey in her opening 36 holes came late in her round today but with 13 birdies she had done enough to hold off two time US Amateur Champion and 19 year old Kang.

Kang was brilliant today reaching the turn in 29 before finishing with 64. The rookie has missed her last two cuts on the LPGA Tour but she is clearly a talent and has created a great opportunity for the weekend.

None of the four Australians made the cut, Katherine Hull and Sarah Jane Smith missing by one with Lindsey Wright and Sarah Kemp further back.
