Five way tie in Noumea

BY Bruce Young | 28 Sep 2012

The second round of the South Pacific Open was completed yesterday at the Tina Golf Club in Noumea and there was a five way tie for the lead at the completion of the opening 36 holes.

Defending champion Matt Griffin, Tasmanian Clint Rice, Queenslander Matthew Guyatt, local Jean Louis Guepy and New Zealander Ryan Fox share the lead at 8 under.

Griffin, who recently won the High Resort 1 event in Korea, produced the round of the day (64) to set himself up for a possible second win in this event having won a playoff in 2011 over Terry Pilkadaris.

New Zealander Brad Shilton and NSW’s golfer Anthony Summers are next at 7 under with first round leader, Henry Epstein, amongst a group one shot further back.

The A$120,000 tournament finishes on Saturday.
