BY Bruce Young | 05 Oct 2012

Victorian golfer Stacey Keating, as if buoyed by her recent breakthrough victory at the Spanish Open, has made a blistering start to the French Open at the Chantaco Golf Club, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Aquitaine, France.

Keating produced an opening round of 62 to be four shots ahead of her nearest rivals Virginia Lagoutte Clement, Lydia Hall, Azaharo Munoz and Sophie Giguel Bettan.

26 year old Keating, a former Australian Amateur Champion, is in her second season on the Ladies European Tour and has a previous best finish of 4th at the Scottish Open earlier this season. She is currently in 9th position on the Ladies European Tour’s Order of Merit for 2012.

The next best of the Australains is Rebecca Artis who opened with a round of 70 to be in 25th position.
