South African Branden Grace today made an already outstanding year even more so when he won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, securing his 4th title of the European Tour season in the process.
Grace, in his rookie season on the European Tour, won twice in his homeland early in the season and then again at the Volvo China Open.
His two shot victory over another emerging talent, Thorbjorn Olesen from Denmark, moves Grace to third on the money list with just over €2 million.
Sweden’s Alexander Noren finished third, two shots behind Olesen.
Ashley Hall and Brett Rumford finished as the leading Australians when they were amongst a group of players in 22nd position.
Hall gained a start in the event through the category where players who have performed well on other many lists get the chance to play and the €38,000 he earned will be a welcome cheque.
Rumford moved to 54th on the Race to Dubai money list and is now well placed to secure a place at the Dubai World Championship later in the season where the leading 60 money winners get to play for US$8 million plus bonuses.
