Moore continues good form in Vegas

Ryan Moore has continued his good run of recent form to win the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at the TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

Moore edged ahead of Brendon De Jonge with a final nine of 33 to win by one over De Jonge and by four over Sweden’s Jonas Blixt.

Australian Jason Day began and finished his round in contrasting fashion. An outward nine of 28 had Day on the heels of the leaders but he was unable to build on the great start and a double bogey at the 18th saw him slip to outright 4th.

It was however Day’s best finish this season and despite injury and off course distractions he has taken his earnings beyond US$1 million.

Moore has been in fine form in recent weeks finishing inside the top ten in the final three FedEx Cup Playoff events including a third place finish at the Tour Championship.

For the former US Amateur Champion it was his second PGA Tour victory, three years after his first at the 2009 Wyndham Championship.

Mathew Goggin was 21st, Nathan Green 51st and Rod Pampling 63rd.

The PGA Tour now heads to northern California for the Frys.Com Open in San Martin.
