New Kalgoorlie layout takes WAPGA toll

BY Bruce Young | 12 Oct 2012

The recently opened Kalgoorlie Golf Course has taken its toll on the field assembled for the WAPGA Championship being played there this week with only two players under par at the completion of 36 holes.

The cut in the event fell at a massive 10 over par, further highlighting the degree of difficulty the Graham Marsh designed layout and the hot and windy conditions presented.

Victorian Andrew Kelly has the lead at 3 under and is ahead by two over Queenslander Kurt Carlson with another Victorian Peter Wilson in 3rd position.

First round leader Glenn Joyner slipped to a round of 77 today but is still in a s hare of 4th position at 1 over and four from the lead along with New Zealander Josh Carmichael and former Australian Amateur Champion Scott Arnold.
