O'Hern seeking big weekend at Frys.com

An eagle and two birdies in his last four holes of round two of the Frys.com Open in San Martin in California has given John Mallinger a four shot lead as the event heads into the weekend at the Cordevalle Golf Club.
Mallinger produced a round of 62, one better than Scott Dunlap.
Mallinger, who has yet to win on the PGA Tour, has been inconsistent this season producing the occasional great tournament but missing nearly half the cuts he has made.
“I’ve been out here six years and I haven’t won yet, said the 33 year old. "I’ve been close a lot of times: lost in a playoff, bunch third places. If I just keep staying in that process, keep doing what I’m doing I can’t do anything against the field. I can just play as well as I can.
“I would love to say it is something different, but it’s really not. It’s all just believing in yourself.
Hopefully I get the same good thoughts going into the weekend."
Mallinger leads over third season player, Billy Horschel, and Jhonattan Vegas.
Pre tournament favourite Nicolas Colsaerts is in a share of 4th place five shots from the lead, a position he shares with Australian Nick O’Hern and Dunlap.
O’Hern has made less cuts than he has missed in 2012 and prior to this week was in 150th position on the money list but his projected position is 121st as a result of his fast start this week. He will need to keep things going however if he is to avoid heading to the Final Stage of Tour School.
“No, not really,” answered O’Hern when asked if he would keep attacking over the weekend due to the little time remaining on the PGA Tour in 2012. "My objective this week was to win the golf tournament. That hasn’t changed. If I do that, it’ll take care of the rest.
Steve Bowditch is the next best of the Australians in a share of 9th position after a second round of 64.
