Big week on Web.com Tour

BY Bruce Young | Web.com Tour | 2012 Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open | Preview | 18 Oct 2012

The Web.com Tour plays its final event before the Tour Championship when the Winn Dixie Jacksonville Open is played at the Dye’s Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida.

The layout is one of the most demanding on the Web.com Tour schedule.

The leading 60 players on the money list following this week’s event get the chance to play the season ending Tour Championship at Craig’s Ranch in Dallas from where they can either make the top 25 and earn their PGA Tour cards or make the top 40 on the money list and earn the right to play the Final Stage of the Tour School.

Two Australasians (Cameron Percy and Scott Gardiner) are now assured of their PGA playing rights next year while Alistair Presnell appears as if he too should get through.

Presnell’s 3rd and runner up placed finish in his last two starts moved him to 19th on the money list and he too is all but assured of a PGA Tour card for the first occasion.

The next best of the Australians on the money list is Nick Flanagan in 39th position so for the ten or so others who are not yet guaranteed a place at the Tour Championship this is a potentially career altering week.
