Suzann Pettersen today won her first event in more than 14 months when she defeated Scotland’s Catriona Matthew in a playoff to win the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship in Incheon in South Korea.

Pettersen led by five into the final day but a round of 74 allowed Matthew to catch her after the Scot produce a round of 67 to gain seven shots on the Norwegian star.

Double bogeys at her 3rd and 12th holes saw Pettersen fall two behind but a birdie by her at the 14th and a bogey by Matthew at the 16th saw the pair tied, leading to a playoff.

The playoff lasted three holes before Pettersen birdied the third extra hole to take the title.

Yani Tseng produced her best finish anywhere in more than six months when she finished 3rd ahead of Se Ri Pak.

Only two Australians played the event, Katherine Hull finishing 33rd and Lindsey Wright 57th.

The LPGA Tour now moves to Chinese Taipei for this week’s Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship.
