Taylor MacDonald from the Redcliffe Golf Club leads the Queensland Stroke Play Championship as the event enters its final 36 holes at the Southport Golf Club on the Gold Coast.

MacDonald, who recovered from a horror start at last week’s Keperra Bowl to finish 15th, added a second round of 66 today.

MacDonald, who recently one his division of the Gary Player Classic in Brisbane, leads by one over Coolangatta-Tweed member Jack Sullivan, by two over Jake McLeod and by three over Daniel McGraw whose second round of 64

The leading ranked player in the field, Cameron Smith, is in 7th position and five shots from the lead.

The event, in addition to the place it holds in Queensland golf, is being used as the qualifying event for this week’s Queensland Amateur Championship at the Pacific Harbour Golf Club on Bribie Island.

In the Women’s Strokeplay Championship being played at Pacific Harbour, West Australian Hayley Bettencourt leads Victorian Grace Lennon by one and Tasmania’s Ashlee Dewhurst by four through the halfway mark.
