Has Tseng found form in time?
BY Bruce Young | LPGA Tour | 2012 Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship | Preview | 25 Oct 2012
The LPGA Tour this week plays its third of four consecutive events in Asia with the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship being played at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club near Taipei.
The Sunrise Golf and Country Club is a 6400 yard Robert Trent Jones Jr designed layout between Taipei and its airport.
Four of the top five leading money winners on this year’s LPGA Tour are in the field including of course Chinese Taipei’s superstar Yani Tseng.
Fortunately for Tseng and the event, the world number one has begun to find her game once again after what had been a horror four months without a top ten. Last week in Korea she finished 3rd suggesting she has rediscovered her form just in time for what will no doubt be a very important week for her in front of he own fans.
Last year Tseng put aside the pressure of expectation to win by five shots but that was at a time where she had a Tigeresque domination of the female game. Her effort last week suggested she could again win but perhaps by not the same margin.
Inbee Park, Na Yeon Choi and Ai Miyazato are the other three from the top five in the field, the notable absentee being Stacy Lewis who currently leads the Rolex Player of the Year points race
Suzann Pettersen will also start as one of the favourites following her victory in Korea last week.
Katherine Hull, Lindsey Wright and Sarah Jane Smith are the Australians in the field.
