Rory McIlory, suffering what he sees as a touch of sunstroke, has taken a share of the halfway lead at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
McIlroy shares the lead with first round leader Luke Donald, and Scot Marc Warren, the trio one shot ahead of South Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace.
McIlroy, who surprisingly missed the cut at last week’s Hong Kong Open, is looking to add this title to the Race to Dubai money list title he secured before this week started and has now created an opportunity to take both the money list and WDP World Tour Championship titles.
Donald has been bogey free in his opening 36 holes adding a 4 under par round of 68 including a birdie at the last to catch McIlroy who played in the second to last group on day two.
Warren, played in the final group with Donald and he too birdied the final hole to catch McIlroy. The starting times on day two were based on first round scores.
Marcus Fraser, the only Australian in the field, is well enough placed after adding a round of 67 to move within three of the leaders at 8 under par. Fraser is in a share of 8th position.
