Aussies attempt LPGA Tour School Final

BY Bruce Young | 27 Nov 2012

The LPGA Tour’s Final Stage of Qualifying for the 2013 LPGA schedule begins on Wednesday at the LPGA International Golf Course in Daytona Beach in Florida.

Australasians in the field include Frances Bondad, New Zealander Cathryn Bristow, Breanna Elliott, Inhong Lim, Stephanie Na and Kristie Smith.

125 players will tee it up over 90 holes attempting to gain one of the 20 Category 11 memberships or alternatively Category 16 (21-30) or Category 20 (31-40). The latter categories offer conditional status.

These numbers are based on previous years although it could be that the final number of cards varies in 2012.

Inhong Lim is the mystery amongst the field. Lim was born in Korea and moved to New Zealand when 13. She now lists Melbourne as her home but she did attend College at Ohio State where she majored in Human Nutrition.

Lim twice won the Riversdale Cup and was the 2004 Victoria Junior Champion.

West Australian Jessica Speechley was also eligible to play the Final Stage but having graduated to the Final Stage of Japan Tour qualifying which clashes with the LPGA version she has chosen that in preference.
