David Duval recovered from an opening bogey after taking a one shot lead into round two of the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan today. The former world number one finished with a round of two under 68 to trail thirty six hole leader, Jim Furyk, by just one.

Duval shares second place with Tiger Woods, who managed a second round 67. Both players now trail Furyk whose second round of 64 swept him from third overnight into the lead.

The tournament organisers have a dream grouping on Saturday with Furyk, Woods and Duval playing together in the final group.

New Zealander Michael Campbell is in 10th position at two under while the best of the Australians is Canberra's Chris Campbell, who is at one over.
