Australian hopes at Asian Q School

BY Bruce Young | 19 Jan 2013

Stage One for the 2013 Asian Tour qualifying will finally finish today at the Imperial Lakeview and Springfield Royal Courses in Hua Hin in Thailand.

Following the completion of round three in Stage B of First Stage yesterday, several Australians are well placed to earn one of the places in the leading 15% of golfers at each venue who will qualify to play the Final Stage next week at the same venues.

Former Asian Tour player, Kunal Bhasin, and recently turned professional, Dimitrios Papadatos, lead the large Aussie contingent at Springfield Royal, the pair at 4 under and in a share of 6th position. West Australian Darren Tan and South Australian David Lutterus are 10th, Justin Smith is 16th and Darren Garrett 18th.

It is expected that the leading twelve players will gain access to the Final Stage although that figure could alter one or two either way.

At the Imperial Lakeview layout, NSW amateur, Daniel Bringolf, shares the lead, while Matt Stieger 6th and Blake McGrory 7th are others with genuine chances to graduate after today’s final round.
