The Final Stage of qualifying for the Asian Tour has reached the halfway stage and several Australasians are well placed as they pursue the right to play in Asia in 2013.
Anthony Choat, who played the Asian Development Tour in 2012, leads the way amongst the players from either Australia or New Zealand. Choat is in a share of 8th position at 7 under.
Darren Tan, Adam Groom and Matt Stieger are next best in 12th position while Matt Jager and Sam Brazel share 18th and Blake McGrory, James McMillan, Ryan McCarthy, Tim Stewart and David Lutterus are 30th.
Eddie Lee is the best of the New Zealanders in 48th position.
The surprise amongst the Australians is the performance to date of the New Zealand Open champion Jake Higginbottom who is currently in 94th position at even par and only just making the cut for the final two rounds. Higginbottom is likely to need to shoot 5 under over the closing 36 holes to have any chance of getting through.
The leading 40 players and ties will qualify to play the Asian Tour this year.
