The Australian team of Brady Watt, Lucas Herbert, Geoff Drakeford and Ray Ruffles has held of a strong late challenge from the New Zealand side to win the inaugural staging of the Ten Nations Cup at the Kingswood Golf Estate in George in South Africa by just one shot.

Watt would claim double honours having also won the Individual title by three shots over New Zealander and current Australian Junior Champion Tyler Hodge.

New Zealand’s Blair Riordan produced the best round of the day, a six under par 66 which included eight birdies in the space of nine holes but even his efforts could not haul in the Australians.

Teenager Lucas Herbert who two weeks ago finished runner-up at the Heritage Classic in Melbourne, was also round in 66, assisting his side to stay ahead.

England finished in third position albeit some six shots adrift of the New Zealanders.
