Stacy Lewis takes lead in Thailand

World number three Stacey Keating leads the Honda LPGA Thailand at the Siam Country Club in Chonburi following her opening two rounds of 63 and 69.
Lewis, who moved from number ten at the beginning of 2012 to number two before Na Yeon Choi stole that position off her late in the season, has become the leading American on the LPGA Tour and enjoys the role as she explained at the recent Australian Women’s Open.
“I am getting to the point where I feel like I am kind of carrying the flag and it’s been cool that I’ve been kind of able to help out some of the younger players; just they’ve asked me a lot of questions, some of the rookies about what advice I had for them. So it’s kind of just interesting how my role has changed over the last couple of years.”
Lewis leads by three over the brilliant 17 year old Thai golfer Ariya Jutanugarn who three weeks ago finished runner-up at the Volvik Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast. Jutanugarn led the Ladies European Tour School earlier this year and is expected to be a star on that Tour in 2013. Mind you a victory here this week and she will join her sister Moriya on the LPGA Tour.
So Yeon Ryu, Beatriz Recari and Catriona Matthew are tied for 3rd position, one shot behind Jutanugarn.
Karrie Webb and Lydia Ko are the leading Australasians in a share of 9th position at 4 under and eight shots from the leader.
