Lewis leads but the story is Jutanugarn
BY Bruce Young | 02 Mar 2013
World number four, Stacy Lewis, leads the HSBC Champions event at the Sentosa Golf Club by two shots over a group of six players but it is the performance by 17 year old Ariya Jutanugarn which has captured the imagination of the Singapore crowd.
Five days ago Jutanugarn suffered a gut wrenching loss at the Thailand Open in front of her home fans when she triple bogeyed the final hole to lose the event by one shot to Inbee Park.
That she has been able to bounce back to again be in contention again highlights the quality of the player and individual that Ariya is and if she was to go on and win this week it would be one of the more emotional performances in the history of the LPGA Tour, especially given she does not yet have status on that Tour.
Others at 9 under and within two are world number two, Na Yeon Choi, Chella Choi, Paula Creamer, Yoo Sun Young and Azahara Munoz.
Karrie Webb is the best of the two Australians in the field but is in 28th position.
